so while these are just simple set of pictures, we plan to talk a little bit about each one in this blog. so lets begin with the first, the new ic-r7. and in no particular order.. and also of course, with a little bit of linear overview of all the technical features to be discussed during the review and technical discussion. this will bring you up to speed with the worlds first icom non-dsc dx-grade transceiver based on the new d-star protocol. that's right, the new ic-r7 is a true d-star transceiver.

this new ic-r7 is based on the ic-7800 and the d-star protocol. as the name implies, this rig is the first of icoms new offerings which all are based on the d-star protocol. but we will have to wait until later in the year to see when icom will be delivering all this new technology. but i can tell you that the ic-r7 will be a very affordable transceiver.
if you live in a boat-friendly area youve probably used the app for a boating excursion or to avoid getting too close to the local shore while in a marina. icom sent me a demo a few weeks ago, and im glad i made the change from standard horizon, but the m510 has not been available for public viewing. icons and graphics dont reveal a lot except that home icon lights up green, and theres a boating icon with a radio dial. there are voice options and auto channel scanning (id have to try a live broadcast to find out if it works).
theres also an m510 mode panel that switches between m510 operations and an easier to read virtual itouch style display. its not really a touchscreen panel but more like a custom view of a black and white screen.
